Government School

1. General

• Original Certificates are needed.

• Copies of applicants ID or passport.

• Copies are made and presented with the originals to The   Department of Education or  Umalusi in Pretoria

  depending on the year the qualification was obtained..

• Umalusi confirms the status status of the institution the   qualification was obtained.

• After certification by the Department of  Education the   documents are  presented for Apostille or Authentication.

• After Authentication documents can be presented for   certification at the relevant embassy.


2. Process/Route for documents to be Attested by Apostille for Countries whom are Signatories to the La          Hague Convention.

     • Provide us with the original documents.

     • We present the original documents to the legalisation        department of the Department of International            Relations and Co-operation.

     • The original document is checked for authenticity by         comparing the signature to the appointed and authorised         signatures on the Data Base.

    • If the signature corresponds Attestation is done by affixing       a  Apostille certificate and Seal, as per the example, to             the original  certificate.  

    • Usually no further steps are needed and this document       can be presented to the requesting authorities.


 3.  Process/Route for documents to be Attested by Authentication for Countries whom are NOT Signatories to the La Hague Convention.

     • Provide us with the original Home Affairs Documents

     • We present the Certificate to the legalisation department        of the Department of International Relations and Co-          operation.

     • The certificate is checked for authenticity by comparing         the signature to the appointed and authorised           signatures on the Data Base.

    • If the signature corresponds Attestation is done by affixing        a  Authentication certificate and Seal, as per the      example, to  the original  certificate.

    • As a final step the certificate is presented to the Embassy       whom will Attest the document by after the  prescribed fee       is paid.  

    • Usually no further steps are needed and this document       can be presented to the requesting authorities.


 

Private School

1. General

• Original documents are needed.

• Must be signed and sealed by the school principal.

• Copies of applicants ID or passport.

• Copies are made and presented with the originals to the  Department of  Education Head Office in Pretoria.

• The Department of Education certifies the status of the    institution.

• After certification by the Department of  Education the   documents are presented for Apostille or Authentication.

• After Authentication documents can be presented for   certification at the relevant embassy.

• Private Schools: Add letter with proof of registration as a    private school.


1.1. Additional documents needed if a private school:

 • Letter by the school confirming their membership of     Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa    (ISASA).

 • Letter from Independent Schools Association of    Southern Africa (ISASA) that the school is affiliated with    them.
